15 people have tested positive for coronavirus at the Royal Mail sorting office, it has been confirmed.
Swindon Borough Council, which confirmed the outbreak, said staff members who had tested positive and their potential contacts had been sent home to self-isolate.
In a statement, Steve Maddern, Swindon Borough Council’s director of public health, said: “The Council’s Public Health team are supporting staff at Royal Mail’s distribution centre in Swindon after 15 people tested positive for COVID-19.
“Royal Mail staff are following the existing guidance for non-clinical settings, with social distancing measures in place and increased levels of hygiene to limit the spread of the virus.
“As a result, staff members who have been identified as possible contacts have been sent home and told to self-isolate for 14 days.”
In July, Swindon’s sorting office in Dorcan shut for two days for a deep clean after two workers tested positive for the virus.
