New U.S. postage rates take effect Jan. 22, which means new stamps will be issued next year. A 1-ounce, first-class letter will cost 45 cents to mail, with the cost of the second ounce remaining at 20 cents; postcards will cost 32 cents; 1-ounce letters to Canada or Mexico will cost 85 cents; and 1-ounce letters to other countries will cost $1.05.
