Manchin’s post office bill fails in Senate

WASHINGTON — Though the U.S. Senate voted in favor of an amendment Wednesday that provides a one-year extension on the closure of rural post offices, a measure sought by U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., that would have provided a two-year reprieve to rural post offices and mail distribution centers was defeated.
