Last month’s incident at the Ames downtown post office, which led to the building’s evacuation and caused nearby streets to be closed, remains both odd and unsolved. On April 22, a mostly empty black suitcase was left unattended in the post office. The bomb squad from the State Fire Marshal’s Office entered the building, but there was nothing harmful in the bag, only old mail.
