More than 1,200 U.S. flags were retired yesterday at AMVETS Post 61 in a joint effort by the post and the Okolona post office. About 70 community members attended the ceremony on Flag Day, which commemorates the adoption of the U.S. flag on June 14, 1777, by the Second Continental Congress.
