WINSLOW—Several notable events occurred in December 1839. On Dec. 5, George Armstrong Custer was born. Along with his men, General Custer was killed at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876, fighting against several Native American tribes in what has become known as “Custer’s Last Stand.”
