Kate Middleton makes surprise appearance at Wimbledon

The Duchess of Cambridge put on a stylish display as she made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Kate, 37, opted for a sleek white custom-made Suzannah shirt dress with a small bow and a slender Alexander McQueen belt, turning heads as she made her way to her seat this morning.

The royal looked in excellent spirits as she took her place on Court 14 on day two of the tennis tournament, which will see players including Serena Williams and Roger Federer take to the court.

The Duchess looked deep in concentration as she watched British player Harriet Dart, 22, ranked 157th in the world, beat American Christina McHale, before Kate moved on to Centre Court to take her seat in the Royal Box.

Opting for a monochrome theme in line with the spirit of the day, Kate coordinated her chic frock with a small basket box bag, also by McQueen, along with black court shoes, completing her look with a pair of sunglasses.

Keeping her accessories to a minimum, Kate rocked a smokey eye and drop earrings, and was spotted giggling as she sat alongside British tennis player pals Katie Boulter and Anne Keothavong.

Kate previously wore a dress by designer Suzannah in 2014, and day dresses by the brand cost as much as £2,350.

Other celebrities in attendance included Romeo Beckham, Brooklyn Beckham’s girlfriend Hana Cross, actor Will Poulter, Strictly’s Katya Jones, boxer David Haye and presenter Melanie Sykes.

Kate, patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, is a huge fan and broke her maternity leave following the birth of Prince Louis last year to attend one of her favourite annual events.

At the time, the Duchess attended the tennis alongside Meghan, who is not thought to be attending this year as she is currently on maternity leave after welcoming baby Archie with Prince Harry in May.

Kate’s appearance today comes just a day after teenager Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff, 15, claimed victory against seven-time Grand Slam singles winner Venus Williams, 39, on No. 1 court today – less than a week after finishing her exams.

She beat the tennis legend, who had won four of her Grand Slam titles before she was even born, winning 6-4 6-4.

Today Serena Williams, close pal to Meghan, will renew her bid for her 24th Grand Slam title and eighth at Wimbledon with a Centre Court match against Giulia Gatto-Monticone of Italy.
