Jodie led the ladies glamour in an off-white silk Goat Hibiscus dress, adorned with a vintage floral print in varying colours.

She strutted her way into the venue holding hands with her husband Christian Contreras, expertly navigating the crowds in a pair of orange strapped heels.

She matched these with orange-rimmed, round shades and wore her blonde locks loosely around her features in her trademark bobbed style.

She toted a blue studded purse, which she carried over her shoulder, coordinating appropriately with her husband’s smart blazer and tie combo.

The couple have been married since 2008, with Jodie being propelled into the spotlight over the past few years with her role on ITV’s Broadchurch as a grieving mother, and then as the first female Time Lord in Doctor Who.

Yet Saturday was all about the big match, as she excitedly reacted to the action on Centre Court, sat next to fellow actress Lily James.

The couple chatted together, along with Lily’s guest, as they enjoyed the Women’s Final just three rows behind the royal family.

The Centre Court crowd kept roaring whenever Williams would win a point in the Wimbledon final, seemingly trying to will her to make things interesting against Halep – but that simply didn’t happen.

Instead of earning an eighth title at Wimbledon and record-equaling 24th overall at Grand Slam tournaments, Williams fell one victory short yet again, beaten with surprising ease by Halep 6-2, 6-2.

Williams has now lost her past three appearances in major finals – and five of her last seven.

‘I’m always expected to win,’ Williams said afterwards.

It was the seventh-seeded Halep who grabbed ahold of this match and never let go, finishing with three unforced errors to Williams’ 26.

Halep created problems by repeatedly tracking down Williams’ shots and forcing the 37-year-old American to hit another one and another one and another one to win a point.

‘I definitely knew that she was just playing her heart out. I felt like, “OK, what do I need to do to get to that level?”‘ Williams said. ‘I don’t know if there’s anything I could have done differently.’
