A police officer has been injured by a prisoner she was escorting to Hull Royal Infirmary.
Humberside Police officer PC Inman suffered head and facial injuries following the assault on Saturday and was rescued when a member of the public intervened.
The Humberside Police – Hull Twitter account posted to thank the member of the public and to warn people that assaulting officers will not be tolerated.
The tweet says: “PC Inman would like to thank the member of the public that came to her rescue in Hull Royal after her prisoner assaulted her causing injuries to her face and head. We don’t come work to be assaulted.”
It is not known how serious the injuries are or whether the prisoner has been charged with any offence.
