Royal Mail support for Beechmere complex residents after devastating blaze

Royal Mail are helping more than 130 residents who lost their homes when the Beechmere retirement complex burnt to the ground on Thursday August 8.

 

Royal Mail have said that they are holding all parcels and letters sent to residents at Beechmere that they are in safe-keeping at Crewe delivery office and have given a helpline number 01752 387055.

Meanwhile Avantage Cheshire who ran the complex have told Cheshire Live that they are continuing round the clock for the many distressed elderly residents who lost their apartments and personal belongings in the blaze which swept completely destroyed the building

A spokesman said: “Our priority is to care for the needs of our residents and work to action a longer-term plan.

“Our ultimate focus will be to ensure we regularly update our residents and answer as many questions and queries as possible.

“To help with this, there will be onsite presence in a mobile office facility from  3pm at Beechmere  where those with any questions or queries can pop in to speak to a liaison officer. This facility will be available for at least the next 2 weeks open from 10am till 6pm.

 

“A dedicated helpline has also been set up to assist with any queries which 0330 135 9019.

“Calls will be answered between 9am and 6pm until further notice.”

“We realise the impact this is and will continue to have on our residents and the local community. Rest assured, we’re doing all we can to find longer term solutions for residents and are in contact with partner agencies to assist us with this.

 

“Each resident has a dedicated liaison officer to meet with and be a main point of contact outside of general queries.”

The spokesman added: “We’re grateful and humbled for the tremendous amount of support we’ve seen from the local community, Cheshire East Council, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and other landlords to name but a few.

“We will continue to update as and where we can using our social media platforms and website pages.”
