  • Horticulture apprenticeship

    Summerfields Nurseries, in Swadlincote, is on the lookout for a horticulture apprentice to take an active role in their outdoor activities.

    They will be responsible for weeding, potting and planting shrubs and trees, while learning how to use tools and small compact tractors for general nursery maintenance.

    Candidates must be able to work in all weathers and have a keen interest in the gardening field of work and a good level of fitness.

    Ideal for those with a passion for the outdoors, loaders will be needed carry out activities such as emptying litter and domestic bins.

  • Animal care apprenticeship

    An apprenticeship role is available in Swadlincote which is ideal for those with a love for animals.

    Day-to-day duties will look to work with dogs in pack play, ensure that there is clean drinking water for dogs and play with them to ensure they are stimulated.

    They will also have to clean up after the dogs, introduce new dogs to the pack and strike them.

    Ideal skills of any applicant would be a bubbly personality and confident to speak with customers, with a positive “can-do” attitude to working outdoors.

    GCSE English and maths grades 9 to 3, or equivalent, are needed.

    There is also potential space for the apprenticeship to transform into a permanent position at the end of the course.

  • Postman with driving

    Royal Mail are looking to hiring part time postmen and women in the Leicester area.

    This will be based from the Earl Shilton Delivery Office, in Leicestershire.

    A permanent role, made up of 25 hour weeks between 9am and 6pm.

    Postmen and women are responsible for braving all manner of weather, from blistering heats to freezing chills.

    They will be responsible for delivering letters and parcels to people across the area.

    The ideal candidate will be upbeat and self-motivated, happy to work alone and part of a team, and a real love for outdoors.

    A good level of fitness is required, positive organisation, resilience and flexibility are also ideal. A full driving license is also required.

    An hourly rate is on offer for £8.17 for those aged 17, going up to £10.46 for those aged 18 and older.

    Their role of adventure travel sales consultant involves organising trekking and climbing tours of some of the world’s most iconic destinations.

    These include Kilimanjaro, Nepal, Bhutan, Aconcagua, Machu Picchu and Svalbard.

    The consultant will handle the complete travel consultation and sales process to customers, all the way from initial enquiry right up to the final administration.

    The ideal applicant will be passionate, as they will be involved in the outdoor activities, such as hiking, trekking and climbing.

    A good team spirit is also important, as well as being IT savvy, good at communication and organisation skills.

    Initial responsibilities will include managing the sales consultation process, offering trip planning and logistical support and conducting post-booking administrative tasks.

    A fixed salary of £20,000, as well as a bonus scheme depending on results.
