Hill becomes MD at Eight Days a Week

Eight Days a Week Print Solutions has appointed a direct marketing industry expert as its new managing director, as the business aims to move “to the next level”.

Hill: “It’s a very slick and professional firm with a real family feel”

Lance Hill joined the Nottingham company this week. He has spent more than 30 years in the direct mail industry, most recently as sales director at YM Group’s Lettershop business. Prior to that he was head of media specialists at the Royal Mail’s MarketReach operation.

Hill left Lettershop in July and has spent the summer on gardening leave.

He described Eight Days a Week Print Solutions as “a cracking business” with lots of scope for growth.

The firm’s owner and former managing director David Beardsley will focus on the manufacturing side as he makes a phased exit from the company.

“We’ve been under-the-radar and now is the time for us to come above-the-radar, and Lance is the guy to do that for this company,” Beardsley said.

“It needs a different type of person to take it to the next level. We’ve built the foundations over the past 12 years and the business is financially very secure,” he explained. “I’m delighted to have convinced Lance that this is the right place for him to come – he has complete authority to do what he thinks is best to move the business forward.”

The firm has sales of around £5m and employs 16.

“I’ve known David for a long time and we’ve always kept in touch. The business has great potential to grow as it currently only runs a day shift,” Hill said.

“It’s a very slick and professional firm with a real family feel, a genuine focus on customers and with really good people. We’ve got all the ISO accreditations too, which is a real plus. ”

The company’s client base spans healthcare, education, SME businesses and large corporates. Services include desktop ordering of personalised DM, print on demand via web-to-print, hybrid mail and multi-channel marketing.

“It’s a real mix, we might be handling a run of 500 or 100,000. We do a lot of fiddly small stuff that the big players don’t want to do, and we can get jobs out in hours rather than days,” Hill said.

Eight Days a Week Print Solutions runs a raft of Xerox digital printing kit, including an iGen4 Diamond Edition XXL format. It also offers envelope overprinting, machine and hand enclosing, and an array of finishing options including digital foiling, bookletmaking, spiral binding and laminating.

Eight Days a Week Print Solutions is not connected to Birmingham calendar production specialist Eight Days a Week.
