Why are there flower-filled Royal Mail shoes in Canterbury?

Flower-filled shoes have been spotted dotted around a number of streets.

The Royal Mail boots were seen dotted around Canterbury – each one packed with soil and a plant blooming out of it.

A label is attached to them, which states: “Support your postie #WeRiseAgain.”

It is still unclear who organised the shoe scattering or how many of the boots there are.

But the message relates to Royal Mail workers being balloted for strikes over issues including job security and terms and conditions of employment.

Members of the Communication Workers Union will vote from September 24 – with the result due in October.
