Man taken to hospital following Ancoats crash involving BMW and Peugeot

A man has been taken to hospital following a collision involving a BMW and Peugeot in Ancoats.

Oldham Road has been sealed off following the collision, which took place near to the Royal Mail sorting office.

Police have said one man has been taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

A spokeswoman said his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Images taken from the scene show both vehicles badly damaged.

One of the vehicles appears to be a sportscar.

Two cars were involved in the smash.

The section of Oldham Road heading out of the city centre is shut between Poland Street and Livesey Street, with drivers advised to find alternative routes.

Oldham Road, Ancoats, is shut.

First Manchester are warning the 83, 180, 181, 182 and 184 bus services may be delayed while the road remains shut.

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: “We were called just after 12pm to Oldham Road, in Ancoats, to reports of a collision involving two vehicles – a Peugeot and a BMW.

“One person is injured and has been taken to hospital.”
