Royal Mail are looking for posties in Gloucestershire for the Christmas period and here’s what the pay is

There’s a lot very important letters that have to get to the North Pole in time for Christmas: and you could be the one to help.

Royal Mail have announced that they are looking for postmen and women to work in Gloucestershire this Christmas.

In the run-up to the big day in December, sorting offices around the county become overloaded with the extra post as the public send Christmas cards and gifts are ordered from online shops.

To meet this demand, Royal Mail needs to hire temporary employees.

 

These roles are perfect for any Gloucestershire student looking for an extra bit of cash over the winter or anyone who has a bit of free time coming up.

There are a selection of jobs available, including both day and night shifts.

The company say that to be their perfect worker, you must be flexible, adaptable and passionate.

What will I be doing?

The position being advertised is for a ‘Christmas Processing Post Person’, temporary employees to help with the extra workload over Christmas.

The role is based at the Gloucester North Delivery Office on Hurricane Road in Brockworth.

Advertised as a “very important job”, workers will be expected to unload post and parcels from vans, move them around the warehouses and sort them to make sure they get to their correct destination.

Workers can sometimes sort more than a million items from to and from homes in Gloucestershire in a single shift within a team.

 

How much could I earn?

Royal Mail are paying £9.50 an hour for anyone who joins the company doing day shifts.

If you decide to do night shifts (typical hours are 2pm to 10pm), the pay is increased to £11.21 an hour.

There may also be part time shifts available.

  • You are flexible and adaptable to work on various tasks during a shift
  • Pushing trolleys (up to 250kgs) and standing for long periods is comfortable for you
