When has the Royal Family visited Oxford recently?

PRINCE William is visiting Oxford tomorrow to open a university college’s new building – but he is far from the only royal to take an interest in the city in recent years.

The Duke of Cambridge will visit Oxford on Thursday, October 3, to officially open Keble College’s new graduate building, the HB Allen Centre.

Here’s everything we know so far about what he will be doing during the visit.

But William is not the first royal to visit Oxford for a public engagement this year.

The Duke’s brother, Prince Harry toured Oxford in May, visiting some of the city’s community and healthcare hubs.

On May 14, the Duke of Sussex visited Oxford Children’s Hospital,on the John Radcliffe site.

While he was there, former patient Daisy Wingrove, 13, presented him with an adorable teddy bear.

The gift was for HRH’s newborn baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, and was one of many donated to the special guest during his tour of the city.

HRH even found time to sit on the floor and play dinosaurs with two children.

He also visited OXSRAD Disability Sports Centre, and Barton Neighbourhood Centre, where royal fans and families lined the streets outside.

At the time, Prince Harry’s son Archie was just eight days old, and his Oxford visit was his first official UK engagement since the birth.

At the time of his visit, we wrote that he charmed the cheering crowds.

The two princes’ father, Prince Charles was last in Oxford in 2017 visiting the famous covered market with his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall.

During the visit in May 2017, Prince Charles told traders he was pleased the historic market was able to stay open and thrive and that it should be remain at the centre of the city’s future despite inevitable development of the area.

At the time, Oxford Cheese Company owner Will Pouget said: “He was thrilled that a market like ours was able to stay open and for the next generation it should be at the centre of the future of retail in the city.”
