Princess Beatrice ‘could marry in parents’ garden as she shuns royal traditions’

Princess Beatrice is opting out of Royal protocol to have a low-key reception venue instead of a grand event at Windsor like that of her sister Princess Eugenie ‘s wedding a year ago, it is claimed.

The 31-year-old Princess Beatrice announced her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi last month revealing they intended to wed in 2020, but otherwise keeping tight-lipped about the details of their upcoming nuptials.

But the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson has reportedly told her parents she is not interested in a big showy event at Windsor.

Instead, Beatrice has said she is looking for a low-key venue to host the reception and may even opt for a marquee in the back of her parent’s home, according to the Mail on Sunday .

This means that Princess Beatrice, who is ninth-in-line to the throne, could end up renting a venue instead of holding the reception in one of the royal family’s many lavish properties.

Beatrice was not required to ask the Queen for permission to marry, which is expected from the royals at the top of the line of succession.

Given the 31-year-old has dropped from fifth to ninth in the line of succession since the birth of Prince William and Prince Harry ‘s children, she has more freedom and is not obliged to adhere to royal traditions as strictly as her older cousins.

Princess Beatrice’s choice of a more modest affair means she is likely to escape the backlash her younger sister experienced in the wake of her nuptials after it was revealed the event had cost the UK taxpayer roughly £2million to police.

Beatrice has reportedly told parents that instead of a carriage procession and a televised ceremony she would prefer a quiet reception in a garden

Instead, Beatrice is said to want a quieter, private wedding, possibly in a marquee at her parents’ home, the relatively modest Royal Lodge at Windsor.

She has insisted to friends that she genuinely has not decided yet where it will be, but hopes a smaller venue will keep things a little more casual.

The Duke of York’s eldest daughter will also be spared the embarrassment her sister faced when she was turned down by the BBC for TV coverage of the event.

Speculation was rife that the wedding would take place in Italy, after Mr Mapelli Mozzi proposed to the blushing bride-to-be there.

However, at a recent event, the mother of the bride Sarah Ferguson, quashed these rumours adamantly stating that the wedding would be held in Britain.

Not much else is known about the royal wedding as of yet, except that the groom’s ex-fiance Dara Huang and two-year-old son Wolfie will be in attendance.

It is believed that Wolfie will in fact be Edoardo’s best man.

Beatrice and Edoardo became engaged roughly a year after they started dating, however, the couple have known one another for most of their live seeing as their parents are cose friends.

Edoardo, known as Edo, is the son of former Olympic skier Count Alessandoro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Shale.
