Meghan Markle and Prince Harry confirm baby Archie has inherited dad’s ginger hair | Royal | News

Royal enthusiasts have been kept guessing for months over what colour the youngster’s hair would be. Many have speculated Archie Harrison would inherit the famous ginger hair grown by his father Prince Harry. Speaking at tonight’s WellChild Awards in London, Meghan Markle and her husband finally confirmed their son has ginger hair.

Harry added you can “see it in his eyebrows”, according to a tweet from Daily Mail Royal Correspondent Rebecca English.

Meghan gave birth to Archie on May 6 – her first child with husband Harry, whom she married in May 2018.

But the youngster’s privacy has remained an important focus for the sensitive couple, and he has only been pictured in public on a handful of occasions over the past five months.

This has left royal fans guessing as to what hair colour Archie would sport.

In August, a royal source claimed he had inherited his father’s signature hair colour, according to a royal source speaking to People magazine, who said he had “tufts of reddish hair”.

They said: “He’s a happy baby. He has lovely, puffy little legs and tufts of reddish hair. He’s really adorable.”

In a Father’s Day post on Instagram, the sepia filter meant royal fans couldn’t decipher Archie’s hair colour.

Jordan Lloyd, of Dynamichrome, an organisation specialising in colour reconstruction said given Archie’s mixed heritage he is “fairly unlikely” to follow his father’s genetics and have ginger hair.

But most of the discussion from the rare pictures centred around Archie’s hair colour, and early indications were that it was strawberry blonde at the very least.

Also at the WellChild Awards, Meghan revealed Archie had been to playgroup for the first time.

The Duchess told Milly Sutherland, 11, and her mother Angela, 50, from Liverpool: “I just took Archie for his first (playgroup) class. It was a lot of fun. He loved it.”

Angela added: “She took him to one of these baby classes today and she said they had loads of fun together. She said it was really good fun.”

Ahead of receiving the award for Inspirational Child (4-6), Lyla-Rose O’Donovan, six, and her father Paul, 51, met Meghan and Harry, who accepted a pair of handmade beaded bracelets she had made for them.

A delighted Meghan gasped: “Wow. Did you make this? Thank you so much.”

On hearing that Lyla is the fifth of six children, Harry also gasped, exclaiming: “Six? Oh my gosh! We are new parents, we had our son five months ago.”

Mr O’Donovan told them: “She’s a huge fan of Archie, she was hoping you would bring the baby.”

Meghan said: “Oh sorry! It’s bed time for him now!”
