Spalding Gleed Boys’ reunion

Friends who hadn’t seen each other since their school days 35 years ago had a great time catching up at their first reunion in Spalding.

Leo Fragale and his 180-strong cohort left Spalding Gleed Boys’ School (now Spalding Academy) for the final time in 1984, when life took them in different directions and many lost touch with each other.

To mark the 35th anniversary of their leaving, Leo decided it was time for a get-together and organised a reunion at the Royal Mail Cart.

He was delighted around 40 of his peers and four teachers turned out to reminisce and is keen to arrange more get-togethers.

“It was great, we had a really good turnout,” said Leo, who owns Leo’s Pizza Pasta Place, in Winsover Road, Spalding.

“There was a lot of people I hadn’t seen since we left, and some whom I didn’t recognise at all!

“One person came over from Birmingham, and another from Grantham, while many others are still local.

“We had a great night catching up – some of us swapped numbers and we’ve said we’re not going to leave it so long next time. There was lots of talk about getting together for the 40th anniversary, too.”
