The Royal Mint is getting in on the Black Friday action with a half-price sale on Peter Rabbit coins.
The coin -aker has cut the price of its Flopsy Bunny 2018 and Peter Rabbit 2010 pieces.
Both of the 50p pieces are on now on sale for £30, reduced from £60.
The Flopsy Bunny piece is the first and only official United Kingdom coin to feature Peter Rabbit’s sister, Flopsy Bunny.
Struck in sterling silver, it features the children’s character in bright colour printing.
Meanwhile, the Peter Rabbit 2018 50p , has an image of the character eating some carrots – the print is also in colour.
The first Peter Rabbit collection was released in 2016 to celebrate Beatrix Potter’s 150th anniversary. The batch showed illustrations of four characters – Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle Duck, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle and Squirrel Nutkin.
Characters included in the 2017 collection include another Peter Rabbit coin as well as Jeremy Fisher, Benjamin Bunny and Tom Kitten.
Beatrix Potter’s The Tale Of Peter Rabbit was the first book to feature the character. It was published by Frederick Warne & Co in 1902 and was an instant success.
The rabbit went on to appear in five more books by the author, who died aged 77 in 1943.
