Kate Middleton Lost Personal Secretary, Aide ‘Unusually’ Resigned After 2 Years

Kate Middleton has lost her personal secretary.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s gatekeeper Catherine Quinn has decided to leave her royal post after two years. She worked with Middleton since October 2017 for a role that is similar to a chief of staff.

Quinn is responsible for organizing Middleton’s diary and meetings. She also accompanied the duchess in her engagements, Daily Mail reported.

She also had positions on the boards of The Charity Commission for England and Wales, The Met Office, The Royal British Legion and The National Memorial Arboretum. According to the publication it was “unusual” for Quinn to resign from her role after two years only since the job is considered a plum one and private secretaries can often stay in their position for a decade or more. Despite this, royal sources insisted that Middleton and Quinn’s parting is amicable.

Quinn reportedly only wanted to step back from her demanding full-time job. She also wants to return to her charitable roots and work part-time.

“Catherine is a thoroughly lovely lady and has achieved a lot working for the duchess. But she simply wants to take a step back and focus again on her charity work,” a source said.

“Working for the duchess was actually never a job she had ever thought of taking on as she was scaling down her commitments, but then it came up and she couldn’t resist. She has done an incredible job but just wants some more time for other interests and feels she has helped the duchess create a solid platform in order to move forward”

Also, Middleton has been praised for her working relationship with her staff. The future queen is very kind and considerate to those who are working for her.

According to royal expert Neil Sean, Middleton thanks her staff and she is very good at making them very comfortable. One insider said that Middleton’s staff stick around with her for a long time because she knows how to manage them.

Losing a staff member is not new to the members of the royal family. Earlier this year, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry lost their PR aide. In November 2018, the couple lost three aides.
