‘Rare’ Paddington Bear 50p coin warning after it sells for £300 on eBay

An eBay warning has been issued over a coin selling for hundreds of pounds online.

The alert concerns this Paddington Bear 50p coin – which sold for £300 online.

The listing reads: “Rare Paddington Bear Tower Of London 50p. Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class Large Letter.”

The image shows an image of a 50p coin, which appears to have been circulated.

According to the listing the coin sold on 28 November for £300, after two bids were put on it.

But the Express reports the coin isn’t worth the sum it is fetching.

Royal Mint described the coins when it first launched them, writing: “An all-new series of 50p coins captures new adventures at the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral.”

Collectors can buy the coin in a “Brilliant Uncirculated” finish for just £10 from the Royal Mint website.

What is more, there are still many of the coins in stock, and it is not a limited edition coin.

Each of the coins depict Paddington Bear at London’s iconic St Paul’s Cathedral. The range is available to shop today from the Royal Mint’s website: www.royalmint.com/

The full range includes a Silver Proof Coin, a Gold Proof Coin and a Paddington-themed Collector Album.

These new designs follow on from the release of the 2018 coins that marked the 60th anniversary of Paddington Bear, who was first created in 1958 by Michael Bond.

The Royal Mint website also has printable 50p coin images of Paddington at various London landmarks including Buckingham Palace and the Great Tower of London.

They are encouraging young fans of the beloved bear to add their own colour and share them on social media using the tag #PaddingtonCoins
