The Perth postie bringing festive cheer to his delivery route

A Perth postie has gone wild with his cheery Christmas get-up.

Craigie’s Royal Mail deliveryman, Mark Latta, has adjusted his look for the festive season, sporting red fur-trimmed shorts, candy-cane striped socks, dyed red hair and a big sack for all the presents he’s taking to homes in Perth.

The postie does his daily route around King Street, Kinnoull Causeway and Craigie, attracting curious looks and the occasional
beep from a passing car.

Mark (52) from Bridge of Earn comes in to do his Perth delivery and has been the local postman for 18 years. He told the PA his change of look for December is all “a bit of fun”, something he’s been doing for close to a decade.

He said: “It makes the run up to Christmas even more of an event to wear my red outfit and get a reaction from folk when I pass going about my usual business.

“You could say I was visited by Santa’s elves and they got me this outfit. I’m particularly proud of how the Royal Mail jacket has been customised and the red and white laces for my trainers.

“I have no hidden agenda. I just like to give people a reason to smile. It doesn’t bother me why people are honking, it’s just nice to be acknowledged.

“Being a postman I’m in the public eye anyway, so why not get right into the Santa spirit?

“It’s not just Christmas that I make an effort, I’ve also been known to look a bit scary for Hallowe’en,” concluded Mark.
