Former boyfriend of pregnant Croydon mum Kelly Mary Fauvrelle denies murder

The ex-partner of a heavily pregnant Croydon woman who was stabbed to death in her own home has pleaded not guilty to her murder.

Royal Mail worker Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, was allegedly attacked in the bedroom of her home in Raymead Avenue, Thornton Heath on June 29.

Her family, who were in the house at the time, were alerted by Ms Fauvrelle’s screams at about 3.30am.

Emergency services were called but despite best efforts, Ms Fauvrelle died at the scene.

Ms Fauvrelle was eight months’ pregnant and her baby boy, who her family named Riley, was delivered by paramedics in the home before being taken to hospital. He died on July 3.

Aaron McKenzie, 25, of Peckham Park Road, Peckham was charged with the murder of Ms Fauvrelle and the manslaughter of her baby son two weeks after the attack.

He appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from custody on Friday (December 20), wearing black jogging bottoms and a sweater.

The defendant pleaded to the charges of murder and manslaughter, as well as possession of a knife.

Judge Mark Lucraft QC set a trial date at the Old Bailey for June 29 next year, and it is expected to last up to four weeks.

The judge set a further hearing for March 20 and remanded the defendant in custody.

Members of Ms Fauvrelle’s family attended court for the short hearing.

Tributes poured in for Kelly following her death, including from her colleagues. The mum-to-be worked as a postal worker for Croydon Delivery Office.

Dave Ward, general secretary of the Communication Workers Union, said: “Kelly leaves behind a baby fighting for their life, a family devastated by the loss and colleagues who are in total shock.

“The union will do everything possible to help Kelly’s family and our members during this period.”
