Helena Bonham Carter swaps royal costumes for her signature boho style as she takes her dog for a walk during day off from The Crown filming

She’s had a hectic couple of weeks, filming across the UK for series four of The Crown and enjoying a whirlwind trip to Los Angeles to pick up a SAG gong.

But Helena Bonham Carter had a rare day off on Monday, ambling around her Hampstead, London neighbourhood with her beloved pet dog.

The actress, 53, dressed in her signature quirky style as she strolled with her cockapoo pup.

Helena teamed a long maroon skirt decorated with floral embroidery with a warm puffer jacket and trainers, accessorising with a colourful scarf.

The actress and her dog walked down the high street, stopping in an art gallery at one point to admire the works on display.

Last week Helena was in Winchester shooting her latest scenes for her hit Netflix show The Crown.

The actress, who took over the role of Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby in series three, was spotted strolling around set with Olivia Colman, who stars as the Queen, as they shot scenes at Winchester Cathedral.

Helena was back filming last week after a very brief visit to LA on Sunday January 19 for the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The actress was joined by Erin Dohety and Josh O’Connor, who play Princess Anne and Prince Charles, to accept the award for best ensemble in a drama series.

It was third time lucky for the cast of The Crown who, after being nominated for best ensemble in a drama series in 2017 and 2018, finally won, beating out Game Of Thrones, Stranger Things and Big Little Lies.

Both Helena and Olivia were nominated in the actress category but lost out on the individual awards to Jennifer Aniston for The Morning Show.

Helena took the stage to accept the outstanding ensemble in a drama series award flanked by Erin and Josh, before explaining the absence of their co-stars in her speech.

‘I’m sorry there’s only three of us here,’ Helena told the star-studded crowd. ‘They’re actually 239 in the cast.’

‘We’re all working tomorrow so we’re leaving in about five minutes,’ she explained.

‘It’s the most fun job and I’m amazed that we get a prize on top of the fun-ness of doing it,’ she added.

‘I’ve had the time of my life, I think we all have. It really is as good as it gets, this show.’

The cast are busy filming the fourth series of the show which will focus on the late 1970s through to the 1980s, before a cast reset for the final two series.
