Fraudsters who preyed on OAP foiled by postal staff | News

The letter had travelled more than 200 miles and was one of 35 million ready to be delivered by Royal Mail.

Then a message from North Wales reached postal staff in London. Please could the sender have it back?

Yesterday a 79-year-old woman in Flintshire was celebrating the return of more than £3,000 in banknotes she had sent last week to fraudsters.

She was saved after telling a neighbour about the terrifying call she had received from someone purporting to be from HM Revenue & Customs.

The woman, who has not been named, was told she owed £3,025 and that if she did not pay the money at once she would be arrested.

She went to her bank and withdrew the cash before sending it
