Global Positive News Network, which has 133,000 followers and cites itself as ‘the most heartwarming page on Instagram,’ describes itself as a ‘trustworthy news resource that focuses on the positives in life rather than the negatives’.

It also promises to ‘enrich your soul’ and ‘energize and uplift people’ – and it also sells merchandise on their website, including hoodies emblazoned with ‘Focus on the positive’ for $59 (£45).

Recent stories that it covers include a four-year-old who saved her mother’s life by calling 911, a police officer who donated part of her liver to a stranger and an Irish influencer who raised thousands for a children’s hospital.

The page was founded by Kristi Carter, who is an author and an entrepreneur living in San Francisco.

The royal couple vowed on New Year’s Day to choose a different Instagram account each month in 2020 to remind followers of ‘all the good that is happening in the world.’

The post on their official Instagram account read: ‘Happy New Year! For 2020 we will be continuing our tradition of highlighting accounts that inspire, and that remind us of all the good that is happening in the world.’

In January, they decided to promote the work of journalist-run Instagram account, @goodnews_movement, that focused on positive news stories globally.

The duo’s recent post comes after the Sussex Royal Instagram account hit 11.1 million followers, overtaking the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge just a few days after they broke even with the couple at 11 million followers.

Their Royal account broke a Guinness World Record when launching on April 2 last year.
