Princess Eugenie shares adorable throwback snap celebrating Princess Beatrice’s wedding

Princess Eugenie has revealed she’s ‘very proud’ of her older sister Princess Beatrice, after the Royal Family confirmed the date of her forthcoming wedding.

Beatrice, 31, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York, will marry fiancé Italian property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 37, following a five-month engagement, on 29 May at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace.

To mark the occasion, Eugenie, 29, shared an adorable throwback picture on Instagram showing the pair of them as bridesmaids at the wedding of their former nanny, Alison Wardley, in 1993.

In the sweet snap, Eugenie, then three, can be seen frowning at the camera while her smiling older sister Beatrice, then five, grins and holds up a floral wreath, both dressed in white frilly dresses with floral crowns.

Eugenie penned: ‘She’s so excited…. Today the family announced Beatrice will marry Edo on 29th May 2020. Very proud of this moment. Xx’.

Wardley was nanny to the York sister’s from 1988 when Beatrice was born until 1993, when she married royal bodyguard Ben Dady at St Chad’s Church in Withington, Manchester.

Royal watchers quickly gushed over the post, with several excited fans thrilled to see that Beatrice had finally set a date for the big day.

‘Yay! Finally, a confirmed date! So excited!’ wrote one.

‘Wonderful news for your sister and her fiancé, as well as for your beautiful and close-knit family,’ said another.

It is understood Beatrice and Edoardo want their nuptials to be ‘low key’ and without the fanfare that surrounded the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

Their ceremony was followed by a carriage ride, and 1,200 members of the public, people from the local community and representatives of charities supported by the couple were invited into the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The Duke of York, who stepped back from royal duties last year amid ongoing scandal surrounding his friendship with deceased paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, will give his daughter away.

Fans were thrilled Beatrice had finally set a date for the big day

Another insisted it was wonderful news for both Beatrice and her family

Royal watchers quickly fawned over the post, with several excited fans thrilled Beatrice had finally set a date for the big day and insisted it was wonderful news for the ‘whole family’

It will be the first reception to be held at the palace since the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in April 2011.

All three subsequent royal weddings have been in Windsor. Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie tied the knot in 2018 at St George’s Chapel, with a reception at the castle.

The Royal Family’s statement, released on Instagram today, reads: ‘The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29th May 2020. The couple became engaged in Italy in September 2019.

‘Her Majesty The Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

Beatrice and Edo had been together for 11 months at the time they announced their engagement in September last year. Father-of-one Edo proposed with a ring estimated to have cost £100,000, while the pair were holidaying in Italy.

The planning has been somewhat overshadowed by the ongoing scandal surrounding Prince Andrew’s friendship with deceased paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

However it is believed Princess Beatrice will still be walked down the aisle by her father, with whom she shares a close relationship, and that her sister Eugenie will play a role in the wedding.
