Royal Mail set to strike once virus crisis is over

Royal Mail workers have voted in favour of strikes in a dispute about job security and the direction of the company.

Members of the Communication Workers Union backed industrial action by 94 per cent but did not announce strike dates and said they wanted to be an emergency service during the coronavirus crisis.

The dispute involves more than 100,000 Royal Mail workers as well as Parcelforce staff. In a statement the union said that Royal Mail “is the only service that connects every address in this country”.

Royal Mail, said: “We contacted CWU last week to work together to protect our people, our country and our company. We are talking to them about how we can do that together.”
