Royal Mail announces major change in delivery dates which come into play today

Like many aspects of our lives, posting and deliveries have been impacted by coronavirus, with many services being delayed.

Royal Mail made the decision to temporarily stop Saturday deliveries a month ago.

It meant anything posted on a Friday would arrive on Monday at the very earliest.

But from today, that will change again.

As of Saturday June 13, Royal Mail will be bringing back Saturday deliveries after more than a month, reports Essex Live.

Due to the impact coronavirus had on the company, the postal service reduced their days of delivery during the week from six to five.

This was mainly because of staff shortages and an increase in demand.

You’ll now get deliveries on a Saturday again

Going into lockdown meant more people were using the service to keep in contact with loved ones.

Whether that be for birthdays or just to send letters – either way, it had an impact on the company.

But tomorrow, Saturday deliveries will resume.

Now standard first and second class post can be delivered on a Saturday – instead of a Monday – the day it had been delivered on instead since May 2.

Despite the change last month, the service was affected that much but it was more of an inconvenience to customers.

A statement on their website read: “We will resume the six-day-a-week delivery of letters and parcels from June 13.”

More information about the change can be found on the company’s website.
