Roo Rawal, 41, a postie for 17 years, was dismissed for gross misconduct for urinating in a lay-by when caught short as he drove his delivery van.

A “shocked” motorist who filmed him on dashcam contacted Royal Mail to complain.
Roo, who worked in Watford, Herts, named 12 colleagues who had escaped discipline for peeing in public — some for taking a leak in a garden.
One said there was “not a postperson alive, man or woman” who had not had to do so.
Judge Louise Skehan ruled: “We’ve heard convincing evidence that there are occasions when those who work away from toilets are caught short.”

She concluded the reason for Roo’s dismissal was his poor relationship with a manager while union health and safety officer.
The Watford panel backed his unfair dismissal claim and said Royal Mail should rank the offence “at the less serious end of the misconduct scale”.
