MATT Hancock has warned that irresponsible boozers could go to prison as pubs across England reopen today for ‘Super Saturday’.
The Health Secretary says he’s no “killjoy” – but vowed to close down pubs if necessary.
“The Government would not shrink from shutting pubs again where there was irresponsible behaviour,” he warned.
It comes the day after the Prime Minister pleaded with Brits to be ‘sensible’ and stick to the rules, despite the relaxing of lockdown measures.
Meanwhile, quarantine rules have been dropped for Brits arriving in England from more than 50 countries.
Holidaymakers will no longer need to worry about a 14-day quarantine upon their return from July 10.
Travellers will be able to go on holiday to destinations such as Spain, France and Italy without the need to self isolate when they are back in the UK.
On Friday, the coronavirus death toll in the UK rose to 44,131 after 137 more deaths in Britain and Northern Ireland.
