The Duchess of Cambridge is flying the flag for British fashion post-lockdown as other European royals champion designers from their respective countries, research by FEMAIL reveals.
Kate Middleton, 38, who is living at Anmer Hall, Norfolk, has worn dresses from big name UK designers including Suzannah, Stella McCartney and Emilia Wickstead in recent weeks.
FEMAIL analysed the outfits worn by four leading European royals – the Duchess of Cambridge, Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Queen Mathilde of Belgium – to determine who has been the most patriotic dresser.
Results reveal the Duchess of Cambridge is the most committed to promoting local designers, followed by Queen Mathilde and Queen Letizia. Only Queen Maxima has worn no outfits from national labels.
Speaking to FEMAIL, stylist Susie Hasler explained the Duchess of Cambridge wants to give British brands ‘a much needed boost in the wake of Covid-19.
She said: ‘The Duchess of Cambridge has long championed British brands, and we are used to seeing her wear high street looks from the likes of LK Bennett.
‘However, throughout lockdown, Kate has ramped this up, waving the flag for British designers with the majority of her outfit choices.
‘Because of Covid, the British economy is struggling and British fashion brands need support – and the most powerful thing our future queen can do to support that is be seen wearing them.
‘She is shining a light on national designers to give them a much-needed boost.’
