A lucky Australian has found a coin more than one hundred years old which can be sold to collectors for upwards of $1,000.
A woman shared two pictures of the 1901 Gold Sovereign coin resting in her hand to an Australian treasure hunting Facebook group.
‘Can anyone tell me what I’ve just found?’ she wrote alongside the photos.
The coin pictures the profile of Queen Victoria on one side, who ruled as the monarch of Great Britain and Ireland from 1837 until her death in 1901.

The other side showed the legend of Saint George and the Dragon.
There are a few 1901 Gold Sovereigns listed on eBay, with sellers asking for anywhere between $1,000 and $1,500.
Facebook users were quick to congratulate the woman for her lucky find.
‘You just found what we have all dreamed of finding! Congratulations,’ one read.
‘Well done, nice Goldie,’ another said.
A third wrote: ‘Well that is one less chance of me finding one. Bloody well done.’
Other commenters said the find was a ‘bucket lister’ and questioned when they would be fortunate enough to stumble across the coin.
In 1901, the Gold Sovereigns were issued by the The Royal Mint in London and mints in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
