Naga Munchetty refuses to present BBC Breakfast segment after Charlie Stayt criticism | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Naga Munchetty’s delivery of a news report on BBC Breakfast was criticised by her co-star this morning. Charlie Stayt interrupted his fellow presenter and advised her to be more enthusiastic when reading the autocue leading to a small spat between the hosts.

“Royal Mail has boldly gone and released a new set of stamps to celebrate the long-running television series Star Trek,” Naga began.

“Captain James T Kirk, 5Pock and Captain Jean-Luc Picard are among the characters featured on the stamps – which go on sale next month.

“Star Trek was first broadcast in the UK, in 1969.”

Viewers saw the stamp designs flash up on screen as Naga added: “I like those!”

“Carol, what do you think about intergalactic welly? How about that?” Charlie continued trying to wrap up the segment.

The resident meteorologist replied: “Marvellous Charlie, a very underused word as well. Brilliant!”

Later on in the show, Naga and Charlie read the best bits from today’s newspapers where the former jibed with her co-host.

One clipping mentioned the health benefits of a cup of tea and Charlie said: “On that note, I shall pretend to drink a cup of tea because there’s nothing in here!”

“You’ve got a cup of tea down there!” Naga revealed, pointing to the floor behind the desk.

“Mmm delicious,” he commented, as he continued to drink from the empty cup.

“Can I just say he gets made a cup of tea every morning by someone lovely on the floor, so don’t feel too sorry for him,” Naga remarked.

BBC Breakfast airs everyday at 6am on BBC One.
