Farringdon police live: Street cordoned off and Royal Mail sorting office ‘evacuated’

Police have locked down a Central London street and have evacuated local businesses, according to reports from the scene.

A cordon has been setup on the junction of Rosebery Avenue and Farringdon Road this morning (Thursday, November 12).

One witness at the scene described it as a ‘bomb scare’, however this has not been confirmed.

He said: “Just a casual bomb scare on the junction of Roseberry Avenue and Farringdon Road to start the morning at the shop.”

Reports from the scene suggest that businesses nearby have been evacuated including the Mount Pleasant Mail Centre, one of the biggest postal sorting centres in London.

Another witness said: “Some sort of major incident unfolding on Roseberry Avenue in Clerkenwell.

“Looks like staff from mount pleasant sorting office have been evacuated.”

The Metropolitan Police has been contacted for more information.
