Royal Mail Releases Nativity Stamps

Friday, November 13th, 2020

Christmas stamps telling the story of the Nativity have been released by the UK’s Royal Mail.

The images have been taken from a variety of stained-glass windows, found in churches across the country.

The Royal Mail’s Philip Parker has told Premier News, the beautiful stamps feature the Nativity as told through the different styles of artistry in the stained-glass.

He says the Nativity is a common subject, with scenes focused on the relationship between the new-born infant Jesus and the Virgin Mary.

Five of the stamps depict Mary cradling the new-born Christ child, and the sixth stamp is an image of the Wise Men, with the design originally displayed in one of the oldest church towers in England.

The series of stamps feature windows of six different churches with designs covering a number of styles, eras, and techniques.
