Christmas is just around the corner and, in festive fashion, a Devon postal worker has been spotted doing the rounds – dressed up as The Grinch.
Mike Newton, who is the control room supervisor for Devon and Cornwall Police, managed to get a snap of the Royal Mail courier.
The photo shows the individual outside a Devon home, dressed from head to toe in luminous green, a Santa hat and coat, and even festive decorations on their shoes.
This isn’t the first Grinch sighting this festive season either – as many residents in Gloucester caught CCTV footage of a costumed individual with their smart doorbells, dressed as the title character from Dr Seuss’ ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ (1957), and have posted it on social media.
There has been other sightings of postal workers dressed as the Dr Seuss character around the country this month, with one being spotted in Wolverhampton.
It would appear the Gloucester Grinch’s heart has already grown three sizes, as they have been delivering birthday presents and even a gift for a resident’s dog, GloucestershireLive reports.
The cards contained quotes from the festive children’s story with a note stating that the gifts had been quarantined for 72 hours – to limit the chances of Covid-19 being spread.
Lola Loch, 10, who was celebrating her birthday on Sunday, December 20, was left a birthday card, chocolates and a bouquet of flowers by her doorstep.
Lola was “over-the-moon” upon discovering the Birthday gifts, said mum Kerry Turner.
The Grinch visited their home at about 5pm on the day.
Miss Turner, mother-of-two, said: “It was my daughter’s birthday and we were out, we caught him on the Ring doorbell. He just left a present and some flowers and all that, it was really amazing.
“He kept hiding behind my partner’s van and kept jumping out, the kids really really enjoyed it.”
“Lola was over over-the-moon, she put her flowers in her room, bless her. It made her day.”
The card contained a quote from Dr Seuss’ children’s story, it said: “Maybe Christmas (he thought) doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.”
“It’s made a lot of excitement around Coopers Edge,” said Miss Turner. “Everyone’s like ‘Oh, the Grinch. I wonder when he is going to knock on my door’.”
