Farndon-based Royal Mail postie helps deliver some Christmas cheer on Newark round

A postman has decked out his trolley to help spread Christmas cheer on his rounds for another year.

Phil Padgett, of Newark, and his Santa’s sleigh-themed Royal Mail trolley have put residents in a festive mood.

Charmaine Fenton, who sees Phil during his postal round, said: “He decorates his barrow each Christmas and has also done so at other significant times of the year, we all look forward to seeing the different decorations each year.

“It is always a delight to see. It is cheerful and fun and is particularly welcome this Christmas.

“He cares about his customers and he does it to be cheerful.

“We are lucky he is our postie and can enjoy the fun which he does in his own time”

Last year, Phil opted for Christmas tree at the front of his trolley, while this year he is sporting a sack of presents.
