Covid-19: Royal Mail insists Bexley mail is being delivered

Royal Mail insists mail is being delivered in the Bexleyheath area after a number of workers were left self-isloating, despite some residents claiming otherwise.

Some Bexley locals have reported long delays in post being delivered over the Christmas period, and have alleged that a Covid-19 outbreak is behind the disruption.

A spokesperson for Royal Mail have confirmed that following one positive case of Covid-19 at the loca Bexley delivery office, a number of colleagues are self isolating in line with official guidance.

But the spokesperson said: “All mail in the Bexleyheath area is being delivered as normal.

“Throughout the pandemic, every decision we make puts the health of our people and customers first.”

Their full statement added: “Following one positive case of COVID in the local Delivery Office, a low number of colleagues are self isolating in line with Track and Trace guidance. We are taking necessary precautions and preventative measures.”

One resident alleged that 18 staff are currently self-isolating in the Bexley delivery office.

Another in Blendon said they have not received post for over two weeks, and had not even seen their postman.

They also asked if others had experienced the same problem across all of Bexley.
