Prince Harry humiliated: Post-Megxit request rejected by Queen in brutal ‘two second’ blow | Royal | News

In November, the Duke of Sussex was refused permission to have a wreath laid at the Cenotaph on his behalf. Prince Harry made a personal request to Buckingham Palace, but courtiers denied it on the grounds that he is no longer representing the monarchy.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family early last year.

Her Majesty took “all of two seconds” to make her decision on the wreath matter according to an insider.

Prince Harry is believed to have been “deeply saddened” by the Queen’s decision, according to the Daily Mail’s royal correspondent Rebecca English.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry relocated to the US in March with their baby son Archie.

In November, the Sussexes released pictures of themselves laying floral tributes at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.

Palace sources said that Her Majesty refused the Duke’s request and made her decision “in less than one minute”, according to the newspaper.

An insider said: “Remembrance Sunday is sacrosanct when it comes to Her Majesty’s diary, it’s one of the most important dates in her calendar and nothing is done without her knowledge.”

They added: “People were suggesting the Palace’s reaction to what Harry asked was petty but it was the Queen’s decision.

Since stepping down from royal duties, the Sussexes have signed deals with the streaming giants Netflix and Spotify.

Their employment choices could reportedly affect what kind of relationship they will have with the Firm in the future.

A source told the Daily Mail: “To come back would mean they would have to undo all the commercial tie-ups they have already done, and clearly Harry and Meghan don’t want to do that.

“Harry and Meghan are clearly where they want to be, and good luck to them.

“But their subsequent career choices have scuppered any chance of retaining even a quasi-official royal role.”

Royal commentators have urged the Queen to remove the Sussexes’ royal titles.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan took to Twitter to blast the couple for their “shameful” use of the royal titles.

He wrote: “I think they’re a pair of vapid little wastrels exploiting their royal titles for vast commercial gain whilst doing none of the duty that being a member of the Royal Family entails.

“It’s shameless, shameful & the Queen should stop them doing it by removing the titles.”
