Derbyshire Post Office closes as staff member tests positive for Covid-19

A Post Office in a Derbyshire village has closed for 10 days after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The branch in Nottingham Road, Borrowash, will remain shut for the rest of this week and is expected to reopen on Wednesday, January 20.

A notice has been placed on the door of the branch, located next to Borrowash Methodist Church, to inform customers of the reason for its temporary closure.

The notice reads: “A staff member has tested positive for Covid-19. Sadly this means we have to close for 10 days.

“We plan to reopen on Wednesday, January 20 as long as Government guidelines permit us to.

“All Royal Mail items to be collected have gone to Midland Road delivery office – DE1 1AA. All Parcelforce items have been returned to Parcelforce.”

Customers have been advised to visit branches in the nearby Derby suburb of Spondon and Erewash village of Draycott while the Borrowash branch is closed.

A Post Office spokeswoman said: “Borrowash Post Office is temporarily closed due to staffing issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“In the meantime, alternative branches include Draycott and Spondon. It is hoped that the branch will reopen on January 20.”
