Amazon criticised over exemption badges flashed by Laurence Fox

ACTOR Laurence Fox has sparked controversy online as he shared a photo of himself wearing a mask exemption badge he ordered on Amazon.

Twitter users criticised the online retailer for the ‘irresponsible’ sale of the badges after the 42-year-old political activist flashed a picture of himself with his new purchase, which read ‘I am exempt from wearing a face covering’.

In a post on Twitter he revealed he bough the badge after a ‘consultation’ with himself.

Government Covid-19 restrictions include that face masks must be worn on public transport and in shops and supermarkets.

Only last week all major retailers like Morrisons confirmed that it will not let people in its stores if they do not wear face coverings unless they have a valid exemption.

Amazon is now selling the mask exemption badges, which can be bought for as little as £5.99 for a pack of two.

However, people questioned whether Amazon should be allowed to sell such items.

One critical Twitter user Barbara Jemec said: ” It seems a dangerous and irresponsible thing to promote at the moment.”

Amazon did not want to comment.
