THE Post Office has changed its hours at Brymbo due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’.
Taking to their website, the Post Office announced that due to the pandemic opening hours at Brymbo are to change temporarily.
The website states: “Due to the coronavirus pandemic, branch opening times can change at short notice. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by unplanned closures.
“We encourage customers to support your high street by visiting local businesses and your local Post Office. As you do so, please remember to consider social distancing and where possible remain two metres apart while in and around our branches.
“Our postmasters and their teams have been working hard to remain open for you, and we appreciate your patience as we ensure our branches are safe for all. Please continue to be kind, respectful and supportive to ensure our colleagues also feel safe and protected at work.”
Brymbo Post Office which is operated by the Brymbo Enterprise Centre on Blast Road has also announced on social media it is to close on Tuesdays until further notice.
It will now be closed on a , Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.
It currently operates Monday to Friday 9.30am until 5pm from the reception desk at the Centre which is run as a charitable organisation.
In 2013 the Post Office was taken over by the Centre following the retirement of the previous sub postmaster and operates under a different model.
Commenting on the changes County Councillor Paul Rogers said: “As Councillor I am disappointed that the Post Office will have to close one day a week.
“This is a result of reductions in income as a result of the pandemic. As with many businesses the Enterprise Centre has had to make difficult decisions to ensure that the Centre is still there in long run.
“The Charitable Trust which runs the Centre is looking at options for possible grant funding to allow it to return to normal service and hope that this will happen as soon as possible”
Councillor Paul Rogers is also calling on Royal Mail to locate a Post Box outside of the Centre on Blast Road so that residents can post their mail outside of Post Office opening hours.
