Royal Mail to keep 10,000 Christmas temp workers

Temporary workers who were taken on in their thousands by Royal Mail to cope with Christmas and Covid demand will stay with the company.

Royal Mail has said 10,000 of the 33,000 temporary workers taken on in its period of unprecedented demand will stay with them.

The service saw its busiest three months on record between October and December as the Christmas rush coincided with stay home advice.

During that period they delivered 496 million parcels. Bosses have thanked staff, for their efforts
