Mattress Online also recommend doing something similar by sprinkling a small amount of baking soda over the mattress.
The baking soda will absorb moisture while eliminating any unpleasant smells.
Make sure the baking soda sits for an hour before thoroughly hoovering it up.
5. Flip your mattress
If your mattress if double-sided, you need to clean the other side of it too.
If you just have a single-sided mattress, then just hoover the other side of it to get rid of dust build-up.
Steve Adams, CEO at Mattress Online said cleaning your bedding “isn’t enough”.
He added: “A clean mattress will also help to minimise allergy symptoms caused by hay fever or asthma.
“It’s recommended to clean your mattress at least once a month.
“It only takes 40 minutes of work, plus an hour of waiting to deodorise your mattress and keep it smelling fresh.
“Plus, it costs less than £5 for the cleaning equipment required, so it’s a cheap fix to fight dust and allergies, giving you a better night’s sleep.”
