Bicarbonate of soda cleaning tip: Mrs Hinch fan shares tip for removing stains from carpet

Mrs Hinch rose to fame after she started sharing unusual cleaning tips and tricks. Now with more than four million Instagram followers, the influencer has inspired many of her fans to set up their own cleaning accounts.

The common household product can also cut through grime.

It is typically found in the baking aisles but has multiple purposes.

Another Mrs Hinch fan explained: “Sprinkle the soda onto the carpet and leave it.

“You have to leave it for at least a couple of hours and if not overnight, this way it removes stains and odour.”

She said: “Please help, I’ve tried deep cleaning it with my vax carpet cleaner and also tried using white vinegar spray.”

One woman also suggested bicarbonate of soda and explained that the product pretty much works on any stain.

She said: “Sprinkle it with bicarbonate of soda and leave overnight. Then wash with a white face cloth and warm water before hoovering.

“There should be no colour left and you shouldn’t put disinfectant or anything on it because that could push the polish further into the carpet.”

One person suggested elbow grease spray which will hopefully lift the polish or make it less visible.

The Elbow Grease All Purpose Degreaser costs around £1 for a bottle and can be used on many surfaces around the home.

Mrs Hinch herself has also previously raved about the affordable product.

The cleaning sensation says the product is very versatile and is great for removing smudges from glass tables and fans have even said it can clean the oven to remove residue.
