The insider told the Daily Mail: “Meghan said it’s during these times when family should come together, put their differences aside and unite as one.
“She said this is what Prince Philip would want and that she’s willing to forgive and move forward.”
Meghan and Prince Harry quit royal duties in March 2020 – a move dubbed Megxit – for a new life in America.
And last month the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plunged the Royal Family into a fresh crisis with their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.
They laid bare their rift with the royals and made a set of astonishing claims about the monarchy.
Harry’s talks with his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William after the controversial TV interview were said to be “not productive”.
Just weeks after the explosive interview, Harry has returned to the UK for the first time since Megxit for Philip’s funeral on Saturday.
He is staying at his and Meghan’s former home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

The insider told the Daily Mail the ex-Suits star saw the funeral as a chance for Harry to end his rifts with Charles and William.
The source said: “Meghan said this is the opportune time for Henry to mend his relationship with his brother and his dad.
“She doesn’t need to be there for that.”
The insider also said Meghan remained in America as she “doesn’t want to be the centre of attention”.
Harry shared a touching statement paying tribute to his grandfather on Monday.
The Queen’s grandson said: “He will be remembered as the longest-reigning consort to the monarch, a decorated serviceman, a prince and a duke.
“But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right till the end.”
