Taunton student’s hopes of designing postage stamp

A TAUNTON student is hoping her design will be chosen to be used on a postage stamp.

Mary-Tess McAlonan, in Year 7 at Queen’s College, is in the final stages of a record-breaking design competition.

She is in the last 120 of the Heroes Stamp Design Competition, and both Mary-Tess and Queen’s are guaranteed a prize.

A total of 606,049 entries were received from children across the UK, with 7,479 schools taking part.

They have contributed towards a Guinness World Records title for the largest postage stamp design competition.

The eight winning images overall will be chosen as official Royal Mail stamps and will be signed off by the Queen.
