Royal Mail hiring thousands to help sort through Christmas post

Royal Mail has started its recruitment drive to hire 20,000 people to work over the holidays.

Due to the increased amount of posts over the Christmas period, the company is hiring to help sort the additional Christmas volumes of parcels, cards and letters across its mail centre in England.

On their job site, it says: “Just like Mr & Mrs Claus, you’ll play a key role in bringing Christmas to people across the UK! As a Mail Sorter, you’ll be unloading mail and parcels from our vans, moving them through our warehouses and ensuring that they arrive at their destination safely.

“During a single shift, you could sort over a million items with your team! It’s a very important role so flexibility, commitment and enthusiasm are key.”

This recruitment programme is part of Royal Mail’s substantial financial investment in additional resources at Christmas to help cope with the pressure on the postal service every Christmas.
